Working Without the Weight: EksoZeroG

EksoZeroG is a mechanical arm that holds heavy tools on aerial work platforms and scaffolding. This spring-loaded device transfers the weight of heavy tools to its base, and then into the ground. The unit can be mounted in less than a minute and makes large jobs much easier.

EksoZeroG was designed to help ease the physical burden on construction and demolition workers, so workers can complete heavy hand tool tasks with less fatigue, better workmanship, and fewer workplace injuries.

EksoZeroG Applications.

EksoZeroG helps construction workers take a load off — literally. The gravity balancing arm has the potential to lift and hold tools up to 42 lbs. without wearing out like a human arm would. The gripper also provides weight assistance of up to 36 lbs., meaning that any tools at this weight and below feel truly weightless. This assistive technology also doubles as a manipulator, allowing workers to swing tools around aerial workspaces and operate with greater accuracy and torque.

Bearing the weight of heavy tools and machinery, EksoZeroG works with rivet busters, chipping hammers, grinders, and more. Here are some areas in which EksoZeroG can benefit in daily life:

  • Masonry

  • Bricklayers

  • Demolition

  • Welding

  • Carpentry

  • Boilermaker

  • Electrician

  • Glazier

  • Sheet metal workers

  • Pipefitters

  • Ironworkers
